Nigeria’s Super Eagles players celebrate a major milestone as they receive their promised national honors, houses, and land allocations. The team finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. Officials presented these rewards on December 22, 2025, in Fez, Morocco.

Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, leads the ceremony at the team’s hotel. He hands over certificates and title documents to the players. This event occurs just before their opening match in the new AFCON qualifiers.

Attendees include key figures like Senator Abdul Ningi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, and Hon. Kabiru Amadu, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports. Bashir Adewale, Comptroller-General of Customs, and Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, also join the gathering. Mrs. Nathan-Mash, Senior Special Assistant to the President, represents the government alongside officials from the Nigerian High Commission.

Most players earn the Member of the Order of the Niger honor. Senior stars Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen receive the Officer of the Order of the Niger, building on their previous awards. Team captain William Troost-Ekong gains the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic for his standout performance as Player of the Tournament.

Each player secures title documents for a house in Abuja or Lagos. They also obtain land grants in Abuja. These fulfill pledges from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after the team’s runner-up finish in early 2024.

Cash awards of $100,000 per player finalize through the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General. Dikko confirms that similar rewards process for the Super Falcons and D’Tigers basketball team.
