Cristiano Ronaldo departed Riyadh for Madrid on Monday night aboard his private jet. Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed the Portuguese footballer’s Bombardier Global Express aircraft left the Saudi capital at approximately 9:00 p.m. local time. The plane flew over Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea before landing in Spain early Tuesday morning.

Ronaldo traveled with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children. The family had resided in Riyadh since Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2023. The forward’s contract with the Saudi club runs until 2027.

The departure followed a series of security incidents in the region. Two drones struck the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh early Tuesday morning. The Saudi Defense Ministry confirmed the attack caused a limited fire and minor material damage to the building. No injuries were reported.

Furthermore, the Asian Football Confederation announced the suspension of eight matches in the Gulf region. The federation postponed Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League quarter-final against Al-Wasl, which was scheduled for Wednesday in Dubai. The AFC cited security considerations amid ongoing hostilities.

The Asian Football Confederation released a statement regarding the postponements. “In light of the developing situation in the Middle East, the Asian Football Confederation has confirmed that the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 Round of 16 first-leg matches in the West Region, originally scheduled for March 2-3, 2026, will now be rescheduled,” the federation said.

The statement continued: “Additionally, the AFC Champions League Two and AFC Challenge League quarter-final first-leg matches involving teams in the West Region, originally scheduled to be played between March 3 and 4, 2026, are also postponed until further notice.”
