The Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court in Norway sentenced Nigeria Under-20 international Daniel Daga to six months in prison. The judges convicted the 19-year-old following a trial.
The court found Daniel Daga guilty of getting involved in a sexual act without the consent of the other party. As reported by ALO360, this conviction resulted in the prison term.
Molde subsequently excluded Daniel Daga from the lineup for upcoming fixtures. The club responded quickly to the court ruling.
Daniel Daga appealed the verdict through his lawyer. The appeal prevented the sentence from taking immediate effect.
The court additionally ordered Daniel Daga to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner in costs. This penalty accompanied the main sentence.
The events took place in April the previous year. Daniel Daga had transferred to Molde from Enyimba in Nigeria earlier.
