The Ghana Football Association appointed Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the national team. The appointment took effect immediately. Consequently, the 73 year old will lead Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.
Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz coached several national teams in previous tournaments. Additionally, he served as assistant coach at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. Furthermore, his record included successful campaigns with Iran and Colombia at World Cups.
Ghana faced difficulties in recent African qualifiers. However, the appointment aimed to revive the Black Stars campaign. As a result, the team prepared with renewed focus for the 2026 tournament in North America.
Ghana Football Association officials confirmed the move in a statement. They said “Carlos Queiroz brings proven expertise and we believe he is the right man to guide the team forward.”
