- Breel Embolo Misses Switzerland’s Trip to the United States Due to Travel Document Issues
Switzerland have been forced to travel to the United States without one of their key players, as Breel Embolo was unable to join the squad due to issues surrounding his travel documentation.
The Swiss Football Association confirmed that the striker did not board the team’s flight after his travel documents were not approved in time for departure. As a result, Embolo remained in Switzerland while his teammates headed to the United States for their upcoming international commitments.

- The Swiss Football Association (ASF) did not explain the issue, which is currently under review.
“We are currently in contact with the relevant authorities and expect Breel to join the team later today. Otherwise, he will travel tomorrow to link up with the squad at that time.”
The situation comes as an unexpected setback for both the player and the national team, with Embolo expected to play an important role in Switzerland’s preparations. The federation is reportedly working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
At this stage, it remains unclear when the AS Monaco forward will be able to travel and reunite with the squad. Further updates are expected in the coming days once the administrative process has been completed.
Despite Embolo’s absence, Switzerland have proceeded with their schedule in the United States and will continue preparations ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
The Swiss camp will now be hoping for a swift resolution, allowing one of their most experienced attacking players to join the team without further delay.
