FC Barcelona suffered a defensive setback. Defenders Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde sustained hamstring injuries. The problems arose during Tuesday’s Copa del Rey semi final second leg against Atletico Madrid.
Injuries occur in domestic cup clash
Kounde left the pitch after 11 minutes. Balde replaced him as a substitute. However Balde also hobbled off after 71 minutes. Barcelona won the game 3 0 but exited the competition on aggregate.
Club confirms specific diagnoses
Barcelona announced the results of medical tests the next day. The club stated that Jules Kounde, the defender, suffered a mid belly hamstring biceps femoris injury in his left thigh. Officials added that his recovery progress would determine his availability.
In addition the club revealed that Alejandro Balde, the left back, suffered a distal hamstring biceps femoris injury in his left thigh. Examinations indicated that the recovery process would take approximately four weeks.
Flick addresses squad concerns
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reacted to the news. He said “They’re out I do not know exactly what is wrong with them.” Furthermore Flick noted “We have picked up two more injuries which is very unfortunate.”
