President Donald Trump said his son Barron Trump informed him that soccer superstar Lionel Messi would attend the White House on Thursday. The event celebrated Inter Miami FC’s 2025 MLS Cup win.
Trump recounted the conversation at the ceremony. “My son said dad you know who’s going to be there today,” he stated. “He said Messi. He is a big fan of yours.”

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas Santos exchanged gifts with President Donald Trump. They gave the president a custom Inter Miami FC jersey with the number 47. They also presented a pink soccer ball.
