Hansi Flick Commits Future to Barcelona with Extension Through 2028

Hansi Flick agreed to extend his stay at Barcelona until June 2028. Joan Laporta, the club president, confirmed the deal on Monday. Laporta spoke to RAC1 about the renewal. He said the announcement would come soon.

“We will announce the renewal for Flick soon, it will be for one more season — until 2028,” Laporta said.He added details about the coach’s position. “Hansi has already agreed, he’s very happy here,” Laporta told the Catalan radio station.

The new deal adds one season to Flick’s current contract. His existing agreement ran until June 2027. The extension now runs through June 2028. Barcelona appointed Flick as head coach in May 2024. He replaced Xavi Hernandez in the role.

Flick guided Barcelona to the Champions League round of 16 this season. The team also sits second in La Liga. His leadership brought stability to the squad. The club pursued the extension after this success. Laporta indicated Flick’s satisfaction with the project influenced the decision.

Laporta provided the update during his RAC1 interview. He emphasized that Flick had already accepted the terms. The formal announcement will follow in the coming days.
