Kylian Mbappé etched his name deeper into football history on November 13, 2025. The Real Madrid star scored twice in France’s commanding 4-0 victory over Ukraine, the goals marking his 399th and 400th career strikes for club and country. At just 26 years old, Mbappé became the youngest player to reach this milestone since Brazilian legend Pelé.

France dominated the 2026 World Cup qualifier at Parc des Princes. Mbappé captained the side with authority. He converted a cheeky Panenka penalty for the opener after Michael Olise won a spot-kick. Later, he tapped in a rebound after Hugo Ekitike’s effort drew a save. Olise and Ekitike added goals to seal the win and France’s qualification.

Mbappé’s double ended a brief international drought. He now has 55 goals for France, closing in on Olivier Giroud’s record of 57. The achievement places him ahead of modern greats. Lionel Messi hit 400 goals at age 27. Cristiano Ronaldo reached it at 28. Legends like Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane waited until their thirties.

The Frenchman breaks down his tally quite impressively. He netted 27 goals for Monaco. He exploded with 256 at Paris Saint-Germain. He added 62 since joining Real Madrid in 2024. France contributes 55 more. Mbappé achieved this in around 535 matches, faster than Messi and far quicker than Ronaldo.

After the match, Mbappé was dismissive of the feat. He said to TF1 that 400 goals do nothing to impress when Ronaldo is nearing 1,000. “If you want to shock people, score another 400,” he declared. He eyes Ronaldo’s chase for 1,000, calling it unreal yet possible. Mbappé stresses ambition: “We only have one career, so let’s try the impossible.”
