Kylian Mbappé achieved a significant legal win against Paris Saint-Germain on December 16, 2025. The Paris Industrial Tribunal ruled in his favor, ordering the club to pay him over €61 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses. This decision marked a major blow to PSG, who faced rejection on their counterclaims. Mbappé’s lawyers hailed the verdict as a landmark for player rights in professional football.

The dispute stemmed from Mbappé’s departure from PSG to Real Madrid on a free transfer in June 2024. He claimed the club owed him substantial sums for unpaid wages, loyalty bonuses, and other entitlements. Mbappé initially sought more than €260 million, including damages for unfair dismissal and concealed work. The court awarded him far less but validated key parts of his case.

PSG countered aggressively during the proceedings. The club demanded €440 million from Mbappé, accusing him of disloyalty and seeking repayment of his original €180 million transfer fee from AS Monaco in 2017. Judges dismissed these claims entirely, finding no basis for PSG’s allegations. The ruling also required PSG to publish the full judgment on their website for one month.

Mbappé’s legal team expressed satisfaction with the outcome. They stated the decision reinforced labor protections for athletes and set a precedent against exploitative contracts. Delphine Verheyden, Mbappé’s lawyer, emphasized that her client deserved compensation for services rendered during his seven-year tenure at the club.

PSG voiced disappointment but respected the court’s authority. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi had pushed to resolve the matter amicably, but the tribunal’s order compelled payment. PSG retains the right to appeal, which could prolong the saga into 2026. Officials indicated they would review options before deciding on further action.
