He claimed supernatural powers would deliver the trophy to the Eagles.

Supporters responded eagerly. They sent donations totaling over 22 million CFA francs, equivalent to approximately 33,500 euros. Sinayogo collaborated with videographers to promote his services. He assured followers that his interventions ensured victory.

Mali faced Senegal on January 9 in Tangier, Morocco. Mali suffered further setback with a red card, reducing them to ten players and Senegal secured a 1-0 victory. The result eliminated Mali from the competition. Complaints flooded social media. Donors demanded refunds after the broken promises.

Police launched an investigation promptly. Officers arrested Sinayogo in Bamako on Saturday. The cybercrime unit took him into custody. Charges focused on fraud and online deception.
