Chelsea captain Reece James signed a new six year contract with the club. The Blues announced the agreement on March 13 2026. Consequently the deal will keep the defender at Stamford Bridge until 2032.
Club Makes Official Announcement
Chelsea Football Club confirmed the contract extension through official channels. Moreover the club moved quickly to tie down its captain well before his previous deal expired in 2028. As a result Chelsea reduced any future uncertainty around the player.
Reece James Reacts With Joy
Reece James voiced his delight after finalising the new terms. “I am over the moon to have extended my contract Chelsea means so much to me” he said.
Furthermore he continued “I have always said I want my peak years to be here and I truly believe we have everything it takes to build on our previous successes.”
In addition the 26 year old stated “I am excited for the future under this ownership sporting directors coach and all the staff and hopefully we will lift many more trophies together over the coming years.”

Reece James first joined Chelsea when he was just six years old. Consequently he rose through the academy ranks and became a first team regular. Furthermore the club appointed him captain in 2023.
The England international battled through multiple injury setbacks in recent years. However he returned strongly and contributed to several major trophies for the team.
