Tottenham Hotspur wrote a formal letter to Professional Game Match Officials Limited chief Howard Webb. The club raised concerns over key refereeing decisions throughout the 2025-26 season.

Club Points to Inconsistencies

The correspondence focused mainly on inconsistent rulings involving contact inside the penalty area. Tottenham believed officials applied different standards to similar situations. As a result, Spurs believed they had been on the wrong end of several major incidents this season.

Recent Incidents Spark Letter Action

Controversial calls in recent matches prompted the action. Officials disallowed striker Randal Kolo Muani’s goal in the 4-1 home defeat to Arsenal on February 22. They judged the France international pushed defender Gabriel Magalhaes before scoring.

However, in the 2-1 loss at Fulham, officials allowed Harry Wilson’s opening goal. The decision stood despite apparent contact by striker Raul Jimenez on defender Radu Dragusin. Tottenham also referenced similar situations earlier in the season where outcomes differed.

Interim head coach Igor Tudor criticised one decision after the Fulham game. He said, “Of course, it’s a foul. It’s always a foul. It’s an incredible mistake.”
