The Saudi Arabian Football Federation terminated the contract of Hervé Renard, head coach, with immediate effect. Officials finalized the decision just months prior to the commencement of the World Cup. Consequently, the national team initiated an urgent search for a replacement.
Hervé Renard returned for a second stint with the Saudi team at the end of 2024. During his initial tenure, he guided the squad to a memorable victory against Argentina.
However, recent match results failed to meet the strict expectations of the federation. Furthermore, the team struggled to maintain a consistent tactical form on the pitch.
The federation published a public statement to clarify the swift change in management. “We decided to conclude our professional relationship with Hervé Renard based on recent team performances,” the official press release stated.
Yasser Al-Misehal, president of the federation, addressed the sports media shortly after the initial announcement. “We thank him for his past work, but we required a different direction ahead of the World Cup,” Al-Misehal noted.
